ArmLETS was relaunched on the 6th December, 2010. Its currency is the Gem. There is no joining fee; however, there is a 5% levy on all Gem transactions. We aim to strengthen our local community and aid in the Transition Towns goals of preparing for the twin challenges of peak oil and climate change. We welcome new members to our very new group!

Founded in 1989. Since starting in 1989 BV LETS has traded 990,773 Sapphs (our local currency, as in Sapphire, as in Sapphire Coast) between 684 members. BV LETS currently has had a total of 150 members at 01/08/07 and is growing again with the incorporation of the CES Network admin system.

There used to be a LETS system in the mountains which enabled people to exchange in ways other than using normal money. it wound down in 2001 in part due the enormous administrative load.

This new system is run online and has the advantage that it more or less runs itself.

Byron Shire Community Exchange (BSCE) is a community based 'energy trading' group who use an online alternative money system. This group is only for residents of the beautiful district of Byron Shire including Byron Bay, Mullumbimby, Brunswick Heads and Bangalow. In the south we go down to Lennox Head, west to Clunes and Goonengerry and north to Wooyong. We are a growing network of individuals who exchange or trade products and skills using a LETS unit (Local Energy Trading System) that we call the 'Eco' (E).

We are an incorporated association with a constitution.
Our rules and accounting system only allow us to trade with financial members.
Lucia is a strong supporter of the original principle of LETS which is to reduce energy flowing out of the local community as happens with  the dollar economy. This has been discussed at meetings and so far there has been no strong support for change.

Twentyone years since inception in Queanbeyan, grew to 200+, declined, moved to Canberra in 1995, membership now 22 in 2011, but we hope to grow. New website opened in 2011, plans include an up-to-date Trading Directory with membership numbers and balances. Newsletters available on website, and are emailed where possible. Hosted a visit by the three economics professors from Kobe Uni, March 2003, and the Korean group mid 2003. We usually have a Trading & Social Hour once a month a member's home.

QuipShare is a community based equipment sourcing and lending program for people.
QuipShare members share equipment in exchange for Quips which are roughly equivalent to one dollar. QuipShare uses an online trading administration system known as CES which is successfully used by Local Exchange Trading Systems (LETS) around the world.
